To produce the Record Times pages seems quite a simple task; just select all first places in each class and display the result sorted by ascending times! Unfortunately not quire so simple.
After the 2010 race it was brought to my attention that a good time did not show up on the list of best times for the class. I investigated and discovered why. Over the years the class names have changed quite a lot. This has lead to difficulties in deciding what classes should be grouped together in order to decide the records. So far I have 88 different class names and I think we can all agree that there were not 88 different classes.
So to try and overcome this I have allocated class group codes to each class right back to the beginning of the event. Now, when the Record Times are produced, the system will look for all first places where the group codes are the same.
K2, Open K2, Senior K2 and Senior Racing Kayak Doubles are all grouped together as class code 10. Now when you choose Record Times > K2 > Senior K2 you will be presented with all the first place times for these four classes ordered in ascending order by time. Races prior to 1969 are excluded.
