CARELOCAL is a charity which has been caring for Dublin’s older people living alone since 1974. Our volunteers visit an older person in their local area once a week and this forms the foundation of a relationship that builds and strengthens over time. As a friend, the volunteer can contribute significantly to improving the quality of life of an older person who is experiencing social isolation.
Ireland is experiencing a dramatically aging population, and recent trends show extended family living further away than in the past. And social isolation among our older people is growing. CARELOCAL provides a vital and highly valued service, and you could make a contribution to this which would cost you about half an hour of your time.
