Fratton, I'm sure you'll get a lift, but what about all your gear??

I presume you are borrowing the kayak etc?

AD,

The best place to stay for 'out of towners' is the campsite - Camac Valley.  You have to pre book it, and they have a good website. www.camacvalley.com

The alternatives are a B+B.

I will gladly lend you a tent/sleeping mat if you want to stay there, let me know.

I will also consider collecting  u from the airport but that depends on when u arrive etc.  I generally get to Dublin at about 5pm on fri night before the race.

If u r interested email me at brynoadvisor@yahoo.ie

AD,

Got ur email - thanks.

Try and hook up with someone else who is staying in the hostel - post the name of it here, there are always lots of out of towners in the race and more than likely some will be staying in the same hostel.  You will be here on Thursday which will give you time to organise something.

It is very difficult to get to the race start  (Straffan) by public transport, the only way really is by car.  It's an 18 mile journey from the finish and takes about 40 mins depending on traffic.

The race organisers do offer a shuttle service but I don't think they take the boats.  It works like this, competitiors bring their boats/gear out to Straffan early on Saturday morning, then drive back to Island Bridge where they leave their cars.  The shuttle then brings them out to the start.  This ensures your car is at the finish when the race is over. There is a charge for this, I think it's 10 euro.

If you cannot get anyone to take you out there, let me know and I will bring your boat out to Straffan depending on where your hostel is.
