I'm living in London and this will be my first time doing the Liffey but all my mates have done more than once.

I didn't book my own ticket perhaps that is why I don't know all the detail excuse if question is daft but further to Jesscar's letter - After party?

What is the deal after the race - was not aware of ticketing system and have a friend who will join us there...

The race notes for the event have just been posted to the site.  The following extract should answer your question:

RACE PARTY
The Race Party will be held in the Top Floor, The Arc Café/Bar, which is located near the entrance to the Liffey Valley Retail Park just off the M50 & N4 intersection. Tickets are €10.00 each and will be available at the Bib Collection or at the Finish Information. Avoid disappointment by purchasing tickets early. Only surplus tickets will be sold at the door on the night – there will be no admittance after these tickets have been sold.
