I did the descent for the first time in a wavehopper and was very happy with my performance in the end but I never would have made it to the end without the help of two guys who pulled me and the hopper out of pickle in the jungle.

I crashed into a tree  and came out of the hopper, there I was hanging on to the tree, the boat and paddle with no where to go, very scary, two fellow competitors paddled past and helped me, they both had to get out of their boats and the three of us had a job pulling the wavehopper up the ridge and emptying it. I just think the lads were incredibly kind and when I apologised they said "sure isn't this what it's all about". Thanks guys, I really really really will never forget ye!!

I know one guy was called Lawrence (possibly from Belfast) and I didn't get the other guy's name but some day we'll meet again and I can repay ye with many pints.

Eibhlin,

You're such a lick !!!!!!    Pity it wasn't me who came to your assistance, I could do with a few free pints after that Thrashing I took at Wrens Nest.

Weren't the rescue staff fantastic??

I'd also like to thank Eric and Martin for picking me up in the jungle after I lost boat and paddle, and giving me a spin as far as Leixlip.  I didn't see ye at the party to buy ye a pint, but I'm sure our paths will cross again.  Mucho gracious!

Same sentiments again here to the rescue folks at Wrens - took a bad
line and got milled. They were there literally within seconds and had
boat emptied and me on my way again under a minute - excellent work and
really much appreciated!

Thanks also to the two lads in the Canadian (numbers 198 I think) at
Palmerstown who gave me a hand outta the stopper even though it may
have slowed them a bit - fair play lads!

Many thanks also to rescue at high drop at Lucan weir, Red Cross personnel and the staff of A&E at James Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.

A bad line here made a lot of work for a lot of people who were at all times extremely helpful in sorting out the mess.
