Can anyone tell me what happened to the K2s at Straffan this year. Why did so many not make it?
Here's the proof

We shot it successfully in a fiberglass T2 (came over in 9th place, left in 7th). There was definitely less water on it than in previous years. This meant you kind of had to drop down into the slide rather than just onto it. Shooting Straffan has always been somewhat of an mystical art though and there were no Upper Liffey races to practice on this year due to lack of water. Low brace and lift for the standing waves. It causes carnage most years. Reviewing the youtube videos it doesn't seem particularly bad, comparatively speaking anyway.
Unfortunately though, we holed the stern here (even with a perfect shoot), causing the space behind the air bags to fill with water, making steering in the jungle and some of the bigger shoots a nightmare. Holed the bow on Lucan with what again seemed a perfect shoot. Lost it totally shooting the Sluice and sank on Palmerstown after a near stern pirouette. Rough day on the boats.
