Hi All; My wife and myself are heading down to see this on sat at the bridge at lucan village, but as she is heavily pregnant we need to bring our seats and also park close to it in the village. So what time will it be hitting the village around? Saw it 2 years ago at the Wrens nest area but thats a no go this time |

If you work on the basis that the K2s will take approximately 2 hours to complete the course. Lucan is approximately half distance and the race starts at 12:30 then the first boats should appear at Lucan around 13:30. Boats will continue to pass Lucan for a couple of hours after that. Now, if you want a good spot, and in particular you want a good spot for a seat for your wife, then you may need to be there early - before the crowds gather! Personally I have no experience of spectating at Lucan so cannot offer any better suggestion. |

On a similar topic, how does the start work for the General Purpose class? Our group of four will have two GP men, one GP woman and one GP master. Can we all start together or will we be started separately by class? Apologies for what might be a dumb question, but this is our first trip to the Liffey Descent. I realise also that the GP class starts after the K-boats, and that we'll take longer to get down the course, so could you guess (very roughly) what time we might be arriving at Lucan? My in-laws have asked me this question as they will want to watch us. Thanks |

All GP's will start together but as a rule the real GP racers will filter to the front of the pack prior to the start and the rest will floow behind. In general there is about 5 mins between classes to allow for the 'carnage at Straffan Weir' to be cleared before the next batch arrive. Stay with the main bunch but well ahead of the Canadians. About 1hr 15 to 1hr 30 to Lucan. |
